Recreational & Cultural Activities
At RMEC, we believe that language concepts are learned best through real life practice. Learning a new language needs to be fun to be successful. This is why field trips and after school activities are such an important part of our program. If you are an active person who enjoys exploring nature, you will love RMEC! Here are a few ways you can get out of the classroom and experience what Valemount and our area have to offer.
1. After class activities:
There are activities in the afternoon on Wednesdays. They are included in tuition.

2. Field Trips:
Every week on Friday and Saturday there is a field trip. The field trip lasts one or two days. The transportation costs of the field trips are covered in tuition. For some of the field trips, there are extra fees*.

3. Make your own adventure:
As soon as you arrive in Valemount, we will give you a bicycle to use for free for as long as you are attending RMEC. You can use it to travel to and from classes, as well as to go on adventures with other students. RMEC also has camping gear and sports equipment that students can borrow for free. We can give you information on places to hike and camp, and other neat destinations to explore.
4. Trips with Home-stay Family:
Staying with a home-stay family provides opportunities for students to practice speaking English and to experience how Canadian families live. This often involves accompanying the host family on trips and other activities.
